Job Description

Steel Erector

Steel Erectors erect or dismantle the structural steel framework of a building and temporary structures by installing and fixing together steel girders, pipework and beams. Nearly all types of building can have a steel structure, so they may work on anything from a house to an iconic city office block, or from wind turbines to bridges. Some structures rely on temporary support from steelframes while they are being constructed or repaired. To do this they will use machinery such as power hoists, forklifts, and aerial lifts to work at height as well as fitting metal decking, safety netting and edge rails for the safety of both themselves and other workers on the construction site.
