Qualifications We Offer

There are numerous paths one might take to become a painter or decorator. A college course, an apprenticeship, or on-the-job training are all options.

To determine which path is best for you, investigate these options. Many businesses are more interested in people who are motivated, willing to learn, and able to follow directions, even though some of these possibilities have specific qualification criteria.

To work on a construction site, you might need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.

Career Progression

If you want to increase your work possibilities after you graduate, you could pursue an NVQ Level 3 in Industrial Painting and Decorative Finishing.

Over time, you might advance to the position of supervisor or team manager, which would pay more. You might go into a related field of building like stage design, historical preservation, or interior design. As an alternative, you might take courses in contract management or estimation.

Some decorators and painters launch their own businesses. On bigger projects, you might function as a subcontractor and choose your own day rates.
