Construction Managers are responsible for everything that happens on site including planning, coordinating and managing a construction project. They are normally involved from the project's initial conception and are responsible for ensuring that all project work is carried out according to the client's specifications. Construction Managers also handle health and safety, budgets and hire construction staff. They often have direct responsibility for all the work and decision making involved in any small or large scale projects. As a Construction Manager you could be responsibility for a whole site or, with larger schemes, you may be responsible for part of a project and report to a more senior manager, who may be taking care of several projects at the same time.
