Young builders

What do we do?

As you might have guessed, the main job of a house builder is to build houses. But it’s not as simple as it sounds, and there are a lot of other things that we have to do before we can even start thinking about walls, roofs and gardens!

We have to think about how people will get to their homes, which means building new roads. Our teams also have to think about what the weather might do in the future, so if it rains a lot, for example, the homes won’t flood and people’s things won’t be damaged. We also have to make sure that we build homes that families and people want.

But what about the towns and villages that are already there?

House builders make sure that they work with local communities to help pay for new local facilities such as schools or parks or even swimming pools! That way everyone can benefit from the new homes that we build.

As you can see, house builders do much more than just build houses!

How do we do it?

The process of building homes is a long one and involves a lot of different people and working with many other companies and organisations. And because of that, house builders have to employ lots of different people to do a wide variety of jobs.

Beyond building the actual houses, we also have to find suitable locations on which we can build. We have to work with architects, designers and planners to come up with great homes that will make great places to live. We then have to work with existing local communities to make sure that we help improve roads and facilities so everyone can live together and share.

Because of the many things that we have to do, working for a house builder can be exciting and very rewarding. It means you can help build homes for the people that need them most.

Why do we do it?

In Britain at the moment, there are not enough homes for all the people and families that need them. As such, we need to work with the government to ensure that we all pull together and fix this problem.

That’s why we need to make sure that the homes we build are great places for people to live in, and do more than just provide shelter.

A great example of where we’re excelling in this respect is energy efficiency. We work with the very best people so that new homes are more energy efficient than anything built before. By doing this, not only do new homes stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, but they also help families save money on their bills each month!

We’re constantly working on new things to make new homes the best they can be, while also being affordable for everyone. To do this we have to employ the best and brightest from across the country.

House building is so much more than just homes. It’s about the people that live in them. Whether that’s families moving into our new homes, or people working for our house builders, the most important thing to us is to make sure they’re happy.

Job variety

The process of building a home is very complicated and involves many different stages. This means that house builders have a lot of departments that do very different jobs. To find out more about what each department does, just click on the picture!

Variety of locations

The map below shows you where house builders have their main offices and regional branches. We work extensively right across the country in villages, towns and cities, and as a result we are working on thousands of sites at any one time. So don’t worry if you can’t find an office near you, there’ll be a development close by.
