Job Description

Mastic Asphalter

Mastic Asphalters work on construction sites, or in commercial and domestic areas, and apply asphalt to surfaces including roofs, floors, walls, car parks, below ground level waterproofing or swimming pools to seal them and make them waterproof. Mastic asphalt is a material made from a mixture of limestone and bitumen. When heated to the correct temperature it can be spread by means of wooden hand held floats using traditional techniques. Mastic asphalt is thermoplastic, which means it can adapt its shape, before it returns to its original state and forms a hard waterproof coating when cool.
