Award reward for top performer Jagvinder

Award-winning apprentice Jagvinder Hayer is well on the path to career success after showing his commitment and dedication with Bovis Homes.

The aspiring engineer has made a big impression since joining the Central region last year as an administration apprentice, and has been rewarded for his commitment to the role with a top industry prize.

Jagvinder beat a number of other candidates to win the The Apprentice of the Year award from the Coventry and Warwickshire Construction Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. He received his trophy at a special ceremony at St Marys Guildhall in Coventry.

“Bovis Homes are delighted for Jag in winning this prestigious award,” said Central Division Development Director Matthew Charnock. “His personal values of punctuality, dedication and desire to learn are well appreciated and he has contributed greatly to our team.

“I understand that he is now looking towards studying Civil Engineering and those attributes will put him in good stead throughout his career.”

The Coventry and Warwickshire Construction Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is a unique partnership consisting of BAM Construction, City College Coventry, Warwickshire College Coventry City Council and local employers.

Jagvinder joined the scheme in March 2014 and immediately demonstrated his commitment to his new position with Bovis Homes through the commute he has to make to work every day – incorporating bus, train and on foot to and from the company’s Coleshill offices every morning and evening!

Despite this, his attendance and punctuality has been exceptional and his ability to follow the process and procedures of the business has been backed up by a calm and determined attitude to his learning and work.

Local councillor Kevin Maton, Cabinet Member for Business Enterprise and Employment said: “I’m delighted that many of these apprentices have been recognised for their continued efforts here tonight and also that many of them have or will go on to full time employment within those companies where they are currently placed.

“I was particularly happy to be here to present the awards to Jagvinder and I wish him continued success in his role.”

Pete Brady, Apprentice Scheme Manager at BAM Construction said: “This award ceremony celebrates not only the hard work and determination put in by the apprentices themselves, but also acknowledges the huge amount of support and commitment from the various partner organisations.”
